Summary
At SAP ALM Summit EMEA 2025, conversations with customers, partners, and SAP leaders highlighted a clear shift in the SAP Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) landscape. As organizations prepare for the end of life of SAP Solution Manager and ChaRM, many are looking toward SAP Cloud ALM as the foundation for managing applications, operations, and projects.
However, many complex and regulated environments require deeper SAP change change control, governance, and compliance. This is where solutions like Rev-Trac, can work alongside SAP Cloud ALM, to help organizations manage SAP change management, reduce risk, and support digital transformation initiatives.
What we learned at SAP ALM Summit EMEA 2025
Well, we’ve just wrapped up an amazing week in Darmstadt, Germany, at the SAP ALM Summit EMEA 2025 – and what a week it’s been!
From the moment we landed, the energy was high. The week kicked off with networking drinks where I finally got to meet the SAP Cloud ALM team in person, setting the tone for everything that followed.
Over the week, one thing became crystal clear: SAP Cloud ALM and Rev-Trac truly complement each other. Cloud ALM brings a modern, Cloud-centric foundation for managing applications, operations, and projects. Rev-Trac extends those capabilities by filling in the change control and automation layer, particularly for customers with complex, multi-system, and highly regulated environments.
The role of SAP Cloud ALM and Rev-Trac in modern SAP landscapes
Here are my three key insights from an incredible few days in Darmstadt:
- The ALM Space Is Evolving Fast
It’s clear the ALM landscape is transforming rapidly. With the end of life for SAP’s on-premises products including Solution Manager and ChaRM on the horizon, customers are seeking clear direction on what comes next.
What really stood out this week was how confidently SAP is leading the way forward, guiding customers through this next phase of ALM evolution. At the same time, SAP is empowering partners like Rev-Trac to complement Cloud ALM by extending its capabilities where customers need deeper change control and automation. The direction is clear – a modern, Cloud-first ALM approach and strong partner collaboration.
For Rev-Trac, this evolution presents an exciting opportunity. We’re perfectly positioned to help customers transition from ChaRM to Cloud ALM, bringing automation, risk control, and governance to the forefront of modern SAP change and deployment management.
My insight: The ALM conversation has moved beyond “what replaces ChaRM?” to “how do we build smarter, safer, more automated change processes from the start?”
- SAP and Rev-Trac: The Perfect Partnership for Modern ALM
A highlight was seeing Chris Drake, our Head of Product and Strategy, on stage alongside the SAP team – Resmi K. S., Soeren Ruder, and Valeria Loeschke – during SAP’s opening keynote.
Together, they showcased how Rev-Trac integrates with SAP Cloud ALM to support complex Cloud implementations for companies requiring Global Template Protection.
Later, during Rev-Trac’s sponsored keynote, Chris explored the importance of “Shifting Left” – controlling change from the development environment and catching issues earlier, reducing risk, and accelerating delivery.
Throughout the event, it was clear that Rev-Trac and SAP Cloud ALM are better together.
In the session, “Dive into the Future of Change and Deployment Management with SAP Cloud ALM’s Latest Features,” Frank Jungmann, Chief Product Expert for SAP Cloud ALM, highlighted how SAP is relying on partners to deliver capabilities beyond Cloud ALM’s core scope. Rev-Trac plays a critical role in bridging that gap in the change and deployment management space, especially for large, distributed landscapes where automation, auditability, and governance are essential.
My insight: Rev-Trac and SAP Cloud ALM aren’t competing solutions; they’re complementary forces driving smarter, safer transformation.
- Regulated Industries are Front and Centre
The other big talking point of the week was regulated industries. For organizations in sectors like pharma, healthcare, finance, and utilities, managing SAP change isn’t just about speed; it’s about control, compliance, and confidence.
SAP Cloud ALM provides the foundation. However, many regulated customers need an additional layer of governance, customizable workflow and approvals and audit-ready capability, and that’s exactly where Rev-Trac steps in.
Together, Rev-Trac and SAP Cloud ALM give these industries the best of both worlds: the agility of the Cloud and the control of enterprise-grade compliance.
My insight: Compliance doesn’t have to slow innovation. With the right tools, it can become a catalyst for safer, faster digital transformation.
Wrap-up: A clear direction for the future of SAP change managment
After a week filled with inspiring conversations with SAP teams, partners, customers, and prospects, one thing stood out to me – this partnership just makes sense.
SAP Cloud ALM opens exciting opportunities for innovation and agility. Rev-Trac can help organizations take full advantage by bridging the transition from ChaRM to Cloud ALM seamlessly and confidently.
As I arrived home, feet sore (check out my wrap-up video to see why!) and my mind buzzing with ideas, I couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead.
The future of SAP change and deployment management is bright. Together, SAP and Rev-Trac are helping customers make that future a reality.
Looking Ahead
As Cloud ALM continues to evolve, I can’t wait to see how Rev-Trac and SAP will keep innovating together to make complex change simpler, safer, and smarter.
